The Microsoft Xbox app store’s roll-out scheme appears to be a step forward as a result of the landmark decision of the United States court against the AppleiOS store. According to the technical media The Verge, Microsoft filed a legal document in support of Epic in a dispute between Apple and Epic about Fort Night’s return to the United States market.

On 21 May 2025, Epic Gomes made significant progress in the long legal struggle against apples, when Fortress Night re-entered the United States APP Store five years later. A recent United States court ruled that apples should open iOS platforms to allow developers to direct users to third-party payment systems through external links. This ruling directly promotes Microsoft.XboxMobile Application Shop Scheme, MicrosoftXboxPresident Sarah.I don’t know.BondSarah Bond.It says that the anti-competitive behaviour of apples hindersXboxThe extension on the moving end.
In its legal document, Microsoft states that previous attempts to launch a free-appliance shop on the iOS platform have been “subject to the apple policy”. Microsoft states that “before the latest decision of the local court, owing to the new anti-inducing policy of apples restricting communication between developers and users, Microsoft was unable to implement out-chain payments or even to inform users of the existence of other methods of purchase”. This explains why the Xbox application store, which was scheduled to be released a year ago, has been delayed to date.

For the first time, Microsoft introduced the concept of a self-constructed application store, which dates back to the judicial review phase of the SOS case. At the beginning of 2024, Phil Spencer, the Director of Microsoft Games, called it the Xbox Applied Shop, “Players First”. In May of the same year, Sarah Bond, President of Xbox, announced plans to launch the Apple and Google Applications Shop in July 2024.
Bond said at the time that the store would go online in the form of a web page: “In the early stages, games such as the Candy Legend, My World, will be introduced, and then the ability to open up to partners to create a real cross-platform mobile game experience.”
However, towards July, informed sources revealed that only a small number of third-party hand-drive studios were working with Microsoft to negotiate a confidentiality agreement, with very little chance of getting online on time. One source put it bluntly: “We don’t know what’s going on inside Microsoft.

In August 2024, Microsoft responded to the media that: “Modular shops based on browsers have been tested and are well under way and more details will be shared in the future.” With the recent decision of the United States court to lift restrictions, Microsoft is now free to direct users to its payment system (for example, through its existing web-based Microsoft store) to provide in-house purchasing services for its head-to-heads, such as Candy Legend Call: A Mobile Edition, Darkness: Indestructive and My World.
